Useful tips
- All amigurumi toys are crocheted with tight stitches. Avoid small holes when stretching the crochet fabric. If there are any holes through which stuffing material can be seen, use a smaller size hook.
- To avoid seams, all details are crocheted in a spiral without slip stitch and lifting loops.
There is a chance that you will lose the beginning of the round; to avoid this, use a marker. It can be a colored pin or thread of contrasting color. Pin the marker to the last loop of the round. Every new round must be finished with a loop with the marker in it. - Stuff details of your amigurumi as you go. It is very hard to stuff the detail evenly when it is almost finished.
.
Always change the color of yarn at the last step of the last stitch of the previous color.

Cut the yarn and guide it into each front loop of the last round using a needle inserted from the outer part of the detail (Image 105). Fasten off the hole and hide the end of yarn inside the head (Image 106).

Connect milky white yarn to the remaining front loop of the last stitch of the 5th round following the instructions on page 6.
Crochet:
1 rnd 30sc into the remaining front loops of the 5th round (30)
Connect dark gray yarn and cut milky white

Cut the yarn and fasten off the hole, as we did before on page 24. Try not to stuff the bottom part of the body too hard, keeping it flat (Images 109 and 110).

Body
Hold the body upside down and connect orange yarn to the remaining front loop of the first stitch of the 10th round, as we did before on page 6.
Crochet:
16 rnd (5sc, inc) repeat 6 times (42)
Cut the yarn and finish the round in the same invisible way as described on page 9.

Chest

1 row start in the second stitch from the hook: 3sc, 3sc in one stitch (work along the
other side of the foundation chain), 3sc, ch turn (9)
2 row 3hdc, 2hdc in one stitch, 3hdc in one stitch, 2hdc in one stitch, 3hdc (13)
Cut the yarn, leave a long end for sewing.

17 rnd sc in each sc around (57)
18 rnd 27sc, 1hdc, 2hdc that you link together at the end, 1hdc, 27sc (57)
Now we need to crochet the pointed part of the hood. To do so, turn the hood so that the last round is facing downward and insert the hook into the front loop of the closing stitch as shown on image 114. Connect gray yarn, yarn over (Image 115) and pull up a loop (Image 116).

Insert the hook into the front loop of the second stitch (Image 117), yarn over, pull the yarn through this front loop (Image 118) and through the one loop in your hook in one go (Image 119). The first sc is ready.
Then crochet:
27sc more (28 in total), (1sc, 2slst (Image 120), 1sc) in one front loop (Image 121), 28sc (the last sist from which should be crocheted into the loop to which we connected the yarn (Image 123)).
Cut the yarn and finish the round in the same invisible way as described on page 9. Weave in all ends (Image 124).

4sc, 5dec (9)
Crochet 1sc more (extra stitch made to help conceal the unshapely edges), squeeze the hole of the arm so that the stitches of the last round line each other. Crochet the opposite stitches (Image 127) with 3sc.
Cut the yarn, leave a long end for sewing.
Make 2 details.

Ear warmers
1 rnd
For each ear warmers you have to crochet one inner detail and one outer detail, and connect them together (Image 130).
With yellow yarn
Inner detail
6sc in magic circle (6)
2 rnd 6inc (12)
3 rnd (1sc, inc) repeat 6 times (18)
4 rnd 1sc, inc, (2sc, inc) repeat 5 times, 1sc (24)
Cut the yarn and finish the round in the same invisible way as described on page 9.
Crochet the outer detail of the ear warmers following the same pattern that you followed for crocheting the inner detail, but after the 4th round crochet one more round-5th.
5 rnd (3sc, inc) repeat 6 times (30)
Do not cut the yarn.
Put the details of the ear warmers against each other, wrong side against wrong side (Image 131), and insert the hook into the back loop of the next stitch of the outer detail first and then into both loops of any stitch of the inner one (Image 132).

Connect the details by crocheting the round of single crochet (sc) along the edge, taking the back loops of the outer detail and both loops of the inner one at the same time.
Cut the yarn, leave a long end for sewing.
Make the second ear warmer, but do not cut the yarn after you crocheted the last sc from the connection round. Crochet ch20, cut the yarn, leave a long end for sewing and pull the end of yarn through the last stitch completely (Image 136).
The ear warmers will be connected to each other with this chain of ch’s when we put them on the head of Mrs Penguin.

Scarf
With yellow yarn
ch3
1 row start in the second stitch from the hook: 2sc, 1ch turn (2)
2 row start in the second stitch from the hook: 2sc, 1ch turn (2)
Repeat the first and the second rows 18 times more. You should get 38 rows in total. There is no need to crochet 1ch in the last row. Pull the end of yarn through the last stitch completely and weave in the end of yarn inside the scarfs’ stitches.
Cut a piece of yellow yarn of a short length. Using a hook, pull the yarn to one of the stitches of the last row of the scarf to make a loop (Image 139). Guide the ends of yarn into the loop and tighten (Image 140). In the same way, guide two pieces of yarn into each of two edge stitches of the scarf (on the first and the last rows). Cut the yarn to needed length and fluff it (Image 141).

Nose
Turn the body so that the last stitches of the rounds (where the color changes) are placed on the back center.
Go 2 rounds upward from the first round of the front part of the head and place the nose. Sew the nose along the edge with the end of orange yarn (Image 143).
Place the chest on the front side of the body so that the stitches on its flat part (not rounded) correspond to the stitches on the 1st and 2nd rounds of the body (where the color changes). To make sure that you have placed the chest correctly (wrong side facing the body, right side facing forward), check that the end of yarn is situated on the right. Sew the chest to the body along the edge with the end of milky white yarn (Images 145 and 146).
Fasten and weave in the end of yarn (Image 147).

Assembly
Place the wings symmetrically, with front sides facing forward, on the sides of the body and fasten them with pins (Images 148 and 149). Sew the wings with the ends of dark gray yarn, using the loops on the 1st round of the body and the loops on the outer sides of the wings (Image 150).
Put the hood on the head so that the closing stitch of the last round is placed on the back center of the head and the pointed part is placed on the front center of the face. The back side of the hair should be placed a little lower than the front side (Image 151).

Place the ear warmers symmetrically on the sides of the head and fasten them with pins (Image 152). Place the chain of ch’s on the hood, from one ear warmer to the other (Image 154).
Connect yellow yarn and sew the ear warmers along the dotted line that is shown on image 153. Move the ear warmer to the side a little and sew the chain of ch’s in tight position across the hood (Image 155). Sew the top part of the ear warmer to the hood with this yarn too (Image 156).

Embroider Mrs Penguin’s closed eyes with dark gray yarn. Mrs Penguin’s closed eyes should be situated between the 9th and 10th round of the head. The distance between the eyes should be 9 stitches (Image 159). Each eye is 5 stitches long (Image 158). To get smiling eyes, raise the middle of the yarn a little bit and embroider eyelashes pointing upward. To make Mrs Penguin look more cute, you can embroider cheek blushes under her eyes (Image 160). Put the scarf around Mrs Penguin’s neck.
