Today, the new daily crochet pattern Amigurumi Don The Elegant Tree Free Crochet Pattern, I want to give you some information about this pattern;

DON, THE ELEGANT TREE, is the fifth character in my Matundas collection. The Matundas are beings created by a sorceress, called Amal, from her favorite plants and fruits. The Matundas live in community, in a small secret town in the middle of a forest that has not yet been touched by humans. Don loves his job, which consists of making socks, scarves, clothes, blankets —and whatever is needed in his community— with the help of his needles and his crochet
hook. He also spins and dyes fibres to make his own yarn for knitting and crocheting. Don is loved in his community thanks to his healing hugs. Whenever someone feels sad, the best medicine is to visit Don to receive one of his hugs, to be comforted and filled with his good energy.
Kira is Don’s best friend and they share the same passion for DIY and music. Together they have a sound project: creating Dub Music with their own sound system. They call it «Sinteno», a word in Esperanto (a language that all Matundas master perfectly) which means Attitude. They have a small laboratory in a corner of Kira’s workshop. There they spend hours creating sounds and effects with the machines they make with old devices; technological waste that they recycle from the garbage of the human world and that our friends manage to give a new life by creating sounds that reach the soul.
If you go through the forest and hear a strange music (something that apparently doesn´t belong to the world of “nature” and its reaches your soul), it´s likely that it comes from old radio speakers that Kira and Don have recovered and placed strategically through the forest to reach you with their music: the heartbeat of the universe.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate

MEASUREMENTS: 23 cm / 9 inches tall approximately

YARN USED:
A: Hobbii Rainbow 8/4

The 3 dolls you see in the photo were crocheted with a 2.25 cm crochet hook. Dolls A and B
were crocheted with V-shaped stitches and doll C was made with X-shaped stitches.

STITCHES USED (US terms):

● mr – Magic ring
● sc – Single crochet
● ch – Chain stitch
● st / sts – Stitch / stitches
● sl st – Slip stitch
● hdc – Half double crochet
● dc – Double crochet
● BS – Bobble stitch*
● FLO – Front loop only. Crochet inserting the hook only into the front loop of the stitch.
● inc – Single crochet increase (2 sc in one st).
● inv dec – Invisible single crochet decrease (2 sc together, front loops only).
● rnd – Round
● [no.] – The number inside the brackets is the total number of stitches of the round. Ex: [12] means that in total, there must be 12 stitches in the round.
● (…) xN – Repeat the instructions between the brackets N times. Ex: (1 sc, 1 inv st) x 6, means that we should crochet 1 sc, 1 inv dec 6 times.

MATERIALS & TOOLS:

● 100% Cotton yarn in colors: 002 natural white, 007 brown, 098 sage green, 059 dark red, 055 sunny yellow, 072 olive, 066 burnt orange (Color reference corresponds to Hobbii Rainbow 8/4 yarns). Scraps of beige yarn to embroider details on the body and pink yarn for the cheeks.
● Scraps of black embroidery floss (to embroider the mouth)
● Crochet hook according to the thickness of the yarn used
● 6 mm black safety eyes (optional)
● Toy stuffing
● Yarn needle
● Scissors, sewing pins and stitch markers
NOTE: Read the instructions completely before starting. Work in a continuous spiral, without closing off the round with a slip stitch. Use a stitch marker or a piece of contrasting color yarn to mark the beginning of each round. Crochet tightly to prevent little gaps between the stitches. If needed, try a smaller hook. Stuff your toy firmly. Use the stuffing to shape the pieces.

Construction: The head and the body are made separately and then sewn together to form the main piece (legs and body are made in one piece from the bottom up). The other parts/pieces are also made separately. The treetop, arms, bow tie and cheeks are sewn to the doll; the vest and the boots are removable.

2- Sew the nose to the face, between the eyes.
3- Stuff the treetop (don’t stuff it completely, you will need some space to fit it onto the head).
4- Sew the treetop to the head.
Recommendation: Before sewing the treetop onto the head, pin the ears in place to see how it looks better to you.
5- Sew the ears, on the sides of the face, between Rnds 23-24, approximately 5-6 stitches from each eye.
6- Sew the arms on the sides of the body, between Rnds 36-37 (you have a sample of how to do it here).
7- Sew the cheeks to the face and embroider the mouth with black embroidery floss.
8- Sew the bow tie to the body, centered, between Rnds 35-37 approx.
9- Put the vest on the doll.
10- Put the shoes on the feet.
