Materials needed

Leave a long tail for sewing. Sew the beginning and
the end of
the round 5 with several stitches to form the ear
shape.

Head details
The trunk should be sewn under the round 16.
Add some stuf ing while sewing it to the head.
The trunk straps should be embroidered above
rounds 5, 7, 9 (with sewing thread).
The eyes are sewn above the round 17.
Embroider the eyebrows above the eyes (with sewing
thread).
Sew the ears above the round 17

Embroider the eye whites with the thread of cream color
(see photos 1-4)

Bring the needle out of the same point where it was inserted at the first time.
Tie a knot, fasten of the threads, weave in end inside of the head using a crochet hook.

Cut the grey thread into pieces with the length of 6 cm. (I made 6 pieces.) To attach the first hair strand insert the crochet hook under the stitch above the round 3 at the head center, yarn over (use the strand twice folded), pull the thread through the loop formed, tighten. The next hair strands are attached behind the first one; make sure they are located in the center. Brush the hair, fasten of the thread ends, leaving 1.5 cm approximately.

Toy assembly

Sew the head to the body, having fixed it
with pins. The color changing line is located
at the body side. This will help us to hide
this line under the arm.
Add stuf ing to the space between the body
and the head while sewing. So the head
would be fixed much better.

Thread jointing of arms
For thread jointing we will need a strong cotton thread, a long needle and a crochet
hook.

Thread jointings of legs

I attach the legs at the level of 8-9
rounds. Insert the needle under the 4th
round of the leg (counting from the
top).

Tail

Make a tail at the middle of the round 8. Insert the hook under one stitch, yarn
over (fold the thread in half), make chain 5, secure the thread, and fasten of .
Add blushes to the elephant’s cheeks, our
little one is finished.

Shorts
For shorts knitting we will need yarn (I used YarnArt Jeans, color 84), circular knitting needles №3, straight needles (3 pc), a stitch marker, a crochet hook, scissors. For strap: yarn YarnArt Jeans, color 63. The shorts are knitted in rounds.

The shorts are knitted in “garter” stitch. (When garter stitch knitting, we need to alternate knit and purl rounds.)
Cast on 44 stitches, divide them into two knitting needles, 22 stitches on each needle, join in a circle.
1-3 rounds 1х1 ribbed knitting (k1, p1, k1, p1 and so on)

4 round purl all stitches (44)
5 round knit all stitches (44)
6 round purl all stitches (44)
7-21 rounds follow the pattern, alternating p and k rounds (15 rounds)
Put on the toy. Two sides of the shorts should meet each other under the body between the legs freely.

22 round purl all stitches, divide the stitches to the leg stitches and the gusset stitches. For this purl 9 stitches, slip 4 stitches to an additional knitting needle and slip the next 9 stitches to the second additional needle and again slip the next 9 stitches to the third additional knitting needle.

Join 4 stitches from the left hand needle with 4 stitches, slipped to the additional knitting needle.

I join these stitches using a crochet hook.
Slipm2 stitches from the left hand needle to the
hook, pull the first stitch through the second
one, so we have got 1 stitch on the hook.
Then slip one more stitch from the
additional needle to the hook and pull it
through the second loop on the hook, then
slip the next stitch from the left hand
needle again and so on until 4 stitches from
each needle are bounded of . Slip the stitch
left on the hook to the left hand needle.

There are 9 stitches on the main needles.
This way we have divided the fabric to 2 legs and the gusset.

Then knit one leg with the circular needles.
To avoid holes in the fabric pick up one
additional stitch to each needle near the
gusset seam, we have got 20 stitches. Purl
9 stitches, place the stitch marker to the
beginning of the round.
Then knit one round of the leg (k all
stitches) to keep the garter stitch (20),
Knit the next three rounds in 1х1 ribbed
stitch. Bind of the stitches.

Slip the stitches of the second leg into
the circular needles and knit in the same
way. For strap make chain 110, insert the
strap into the rib stitch on shorts top.

Cap
This cap fits to the toy with 20-22 cm head circumference. For the cap making we will need some yarn (I used YarnArt Jeans, color 84), circular needles №3, a bell for decor. Knit the cap using circular needles.
The cap is knitted in “garter” stitch. (When garter stitch knitting, alternate knit and purl rounds)
Cast on 44 stitches, divide them onto two knitting needles, 22 sts on each loop, and join in a circle.

Crochet cap and shorts
(The shorts and the cap aren’t crocheted in a spiral. Start every new row
with 3 turning ch (which are counted as one DC stitch), finish every row
with a slip stitch, which joins the beginning and the end of a row. I use
crochet hook 1,75 (US 4), yarn: YarnArt Jeans color 84 for the cap and
color 63 for the shorts)

I have 50-8=42 st, 42:2=21 st for the each
opening.
